November Wrap Up

November was a much quieter month than October. With Term 4 coming to a close I was definitely a lot busier and a lot more tired so didn’t spend as much time reading. That being said I got 4 books finished this month. Including:

  •  ‘Renegades’ By Marissa Meyer
  • ‘Obsidio’ By Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  • ‘Wundersmith’ By Jessica Townsend
  • ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ By J.K. Rowling

“You must not forget Miss Crow – Wunder is a parasite” – Ezra Squall

Wunder is gathering in Nevermoor …

Morrigan Crow may have defeated her deadly curse, passed the dangerous trials and joined the mystical Wundrous Society, but her journey into Nevermoor and all its secrets has only just begun. And she is fast learning that not all magic is used for good.

Morrigan Crow has been invited to join the prestigious Wundrous Society, a place that promised her friendship, protection and belonging for life. She’s hoping for an education full of wunder, imagination and discovery – but all the Society want to teach her is how evil Wundersmiths are. And someone is blackmailing Morrigan’s unit, turning her last few loyal friends against her. Has Morrigan escaped from being the cursed child of Wintersea only to become the most hated figure in Nevermoor?

Worst of all, people have started to go missing. The fantastical city of Nevermoor, once a place of magic and safety, is now riddled with fear and suspicion

“Jupiter pursed his lips & squeezed the bridge of his nose. Morrigan could tell he was taking a moment to muster some patience.
“Squall didn’t do the things he did because he was a Wundersmith, Hester. He happened to be a Wundersmith and a Psychopath. Unfortunate combination but… there you have it.”

I was so excited to read this new release! I have been anticipating it since I finished reading the first book in the series ‘Nevermoor’. In this sequel we pick up where we left off in the initial story and follow Morrigan as she enters the Wunderous Society.

It felt great getting back into the world of Nevermoor we begin to get even more detail of the magical world, which is honestly incredible I don’t know how Jessica Townsend came up with such an amazing world but I am absolutely in LOVE.

Morrigan is an amazing protagonist. She is someone who is strong and overlooked at times and has a good heart but little patience when she isn’t treated fairly. She is an individual. I love her grit and courage and am a sucker for a great female character, this definitely comes from working with girls and wanting them to be inspired to be brave and embrace their individuality.

As we go through ‘Wundersmith‘ we follow Morrigan as she is taught what is “wrong” with her being who she is, and what she is.  We also see her navigate through new friendships with the other Wunsoc members in her unit.

The plot of the story is more fast paced that the first book in the series and we kick it off in the middle of everything. I love when sequels do this, it allows for easier progression through the story and assumes readers have read the first book. Which in this case is 100% necessary.

Honestly this was a great read and I ended up speeding through it, which was great because I was loving the story but also sad because I have no idea when then 3rd book is coming out.

This series is a must read!

“What’s it mean?”

November TBR

cropped-headerFirst of all WHAT IT’S NOVEMBER ALREADY!.. Ok, glad I got that out of my system. Down to what you actually came here for (which I’m guessing isn’t a freak out about how quickly 2018 is passing).

Books. Books. Books.

What am I going to read in November? As I am sitting here writing this I am beyond torn. Do I finally start the Throne of Glass series, seeing as I will not have the completed series (yay!) or do I start Renegades so I can actually read a sequel when its released?

So many options, so hard to choose! BUT I think this will be my plan…

First I will read ‘Wundersmith’ By Jessica Townsend, the very highly anticipated sequel to ‘Nevermoor’, because yes I preordered it – I know, how organised am I?! – and I really want to read it before my kiddos at school because you know they will accidentally spoil something in their excitement to share. Also it should be arriving on November 1st, so perfect timing.

After I’ve completed ‘Wundersmith’ By Jessica Townsend, I think I will finally read ‘Renegades’ By Marissa Myer so I can hopefully be ready to read ‘Archenemies’ By Marissa Myer (which I also preordered) when it arrives on the 15th.

IF I finished both of those and I still have some November to spare I think I will jump into’All the Wandering Light’ By Heather Fawcett the sequel to ‘Even the Darkest Stars’ which I ended up reading in October. This sequel comes out on November 15th.

While all this is going on I also want to listen to ‘Obsidio’ by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff on Audible.

Busy! To say this is an ambitious TBR is an understatement I think, but I like a challenge.
