February Goal Update

Even though we have hit the half way point of March, I still feel it is important to reflect on the previous month and the goals I am working towards in 2020.

  1. becoming more actively vegetarian was something that I started off working really well towards in January, however, in February I definitely didn’t stick to it as well as I would have liked. Beginning the term and becoming busier is something I definitely struggle with when it comes to achieving me goals and it seems it has been no different with this. I am definitely going to make more of a conscious effort in the coming months.
  2. It is now the beginning of March and I am sitting at 22 completed books in 2020 so far leaving me 4 books ahead of schedule. Definitely on the right track.
  3. February was a really good month for workouts. I was definitely the most consistent I’ve been so far in both 2020 and 2019. I began playing basketball again which has definitely had a big impact on everything workout related.
  4. Still haven’t signed up for a fun run or started properly running. Better get onto that.
  5. I only purchased 2 books in February and read about 10 books in January, so I definitely stuck to buying less books that I read.
  6. Still working hard and saving money and still actively looking at houses. We’ve missed out on two seperate houses at auction, which is something that is really tough on me but we are still out there looking.

My Recipe Book Collection

Christmas is the perfect time of year to examine the recipe books I’ve found have recipes I use in them and where you can get them. I would recommend all of these books as gifts for someone who loves to cook or as you’ll see someone who is gluten free (likes yours truely!) 

These are the cook books I use in my kitchen. Before I purchased any of them I researched them and looked at reviews and comments left by others so that I could make sure they would be useful. So far I have not been disappointed.

This one was the first one that I picked up when I discovered that I was Gluten Free. I found that it has a lot of great basic recipes and really helps introduce the whole gluten free concept.

This one is great for additional technique information and just some basics for things like making your own gluten free bread and baking.

This book ins’t exclusively a cookbook more of a lifestyle/autobiography (a little bit) that includes some really great recipes.

‘I Quit Sugar’ By Sarah Wilson is a great book for even just working to decrease the amount of added sugar you are eating. It’s definitely need to crack this one open again… after Christmas of course.

I love a good heath and wellness kind of cook book. This one has some great super healthy recipes! 

So I can’t find links for this one anywhere. It’s one I picked up randomly in Kmart or Target or something like that. It isn’t Gluten Free specific but I feels like its good to have a book that can also be used by George since he isn’t Gluten Free.

I absolutely LOVE Jamie Oliver’s cook books! His recipes are amazing. I had a couple of his other cook books but when I moved out my mum kind of just claimed them so I got myself this one. Let me tell you, its worth it. it has such amazing and easy recipes!

‘The Beauty Chef’ By Carla Oates has great recipes for helping with gut health. With gluten and lactose sensitivities as well as chronic gastritis this book has got some amazing recipes that I’ve found helpful especially when having a flare up of gastritis.

I’m a huge fan of Kristin Cavallari’s recipes. She does a great job of incorporating different flavours in a healthy but still delicious way!

September Goal Update

Here we are again, the end of another month and its time to check in with my goals for 2018.

I feel like I’ve really hit and end of year rut, probably due to being so tired, which seems understandable but still. The weather is getting nicer her in Melbourne – finally- so I feel like I can be a whole new person now!

Anyway, here’s how the goals went for September…

  1. Complete the A to Z Reading Challenge
    So another month has gone by and I haven’t actually read any books that I can add to my A to Z list, mostly because I’ve already read books with the same letter. The downfall to reading series.
  2. Post at least 3 times a week. 
    So this one is one that I’m doing well with keeping up with. I think I missed one day last week, because to be honest I forget what day it is sometimes on school holidays. This is probably one of the goals I’ve been able to be the most consistent with!
  3. Exercise 3 days a week
    To be honest this is another one I’ve been struggling with, probably because I exercise after work and I’m usually exhausted after work. I will say I’ve definitely ben doing more. I did boxing a couple of times after school with some people from work and then I convinced George to box with me – granted I’ve only managed to convince him once – so I would say PROGRESS is being made!
  4. Read 30 books in 2018
    I am so excited because I have EXCEEDED this goal in September and have actually increased my reading goal to 35!

  5. Try a new recipe each week
    I don’t know if I’ve kept it up on a weekly basis but I have at least tried a few new restaurants lately which has been nice. I’m trying a new recipe the day I am writing this post – for dinner I am making Cauliflower Gnocchi – so excited to get back into it. Again the weather effects me so much that I just get so down and sloth mode in winter.
  6. Practice Positivity and Optimism
    Still struggling with this in September, yikes. But I have been feeling more positive lately, which is a great start!
  7. Less Technology more reading before bed
    I am a technology fiend apparently! I’ve honestly been unable to just put down my phone and read at night, which seems ridiculous. I end up in a YouTube hole just watching Survivor Challenge videos – which don’t get me wrong are absolutely amazing and I love them.
  8. Focus on what I’m putting in my body and work towards positively maintaining being gluten free and dairy free
    I’ve been average at this at best, which is bad because I always feel it and then instantly regret it. Onwards and upwards though!
