Starting a new hobby

Recently for my birthday my husband surprised me with my first Animal Crossing Amiibo cards. I’d been looking at getting some for a while, they are so cute and I wanted to see which villagers I’d get. Unbeknownst to him a new collection began brewing.

When I was younger nothing thrilled me more than being allowed to get a packet of Pokemon cards. The anticipation of waiting to see just what was in the packet I’d chosen was so exhilarating. Not much has changed as an adult.

My Husband and I began collecting Pokemon cards a few years into our relationship. Now not only do we have a pretty decent collection we are very proud of but we have also begun a little collection for our kids if they want to follow the family tradition.

Enter now Animal Crossing Amiibo cards and I am obsessed! not only are the villagers super cute and the cards can be used in game but that excitement to open a little packet of cards has come rushing back.

No Dreamies as of yet, but I cannot wait to see which cards I get next!

Most Anticipated Games

One of the best things about having a husband that enjoys playing video games is that he always keeps me up to date on release announcements and keeps note of the games he thinks I will enjoy. This leads to both of us getting to enjoy different games together.

There are a few games that have already (now) been released, are being released later in 2021 and some that are being released even further into the future that I am really excited about!

Already available

There are two games that have already been released since I began compiling the list that I am so excited to get to play soon, they are both being released on the Nintendo Switch, which as a side note is my favourite console.

Being Released in 2021

Now looking further into 2021 these are the games I am looking forward to being released

There are only a couple that have set release dates. Pokemon Snap is coming out on the Switch April 30th 2021, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is being released July 16th on the switch as well and Kena: Bridge of Spirits is being released on Play Station August 24th 2021.

Another game being released in the Winter of 2021 ‘Coral Island’ which will be released on PC.

Both Pokemon Shining Pearl and Brilliant Diamond have yet to be given a release date but the trailer is available which looks amazing! I am a huge fun of the Pokemon games.

The last two games both coming to the Nintendo Switch that have not been given an exact date for release in 2021 are Bear and Breakfast and Alba: A Wildlife Adventure.

Looking Further into the future

Now to look even further into the future! There are four games that are hopefully being released in 2022 that I am super excited for with three being released on the Nintendo Switch and one of the Play Station.

The number of games that are coming out this year and into the future is super exciting and these are just the games that I am really excited for, there are so many options for different types of game players and different ability levels which is something I absolutely love about gaming  in general.

I am also really excited to start streaming some game play of my favourtite games on twitch at, which I will post about in advance if anyone is keen to jump on!

Being able to share more of my passions in 2021 is something that I am beyond excited to be able to do and see how these expressions help me to grow as a person and find others in the community that may have similar interests.

Animal Crossing Island Tour

I am so excited to start sharing my Animal Crossing Island! I’ve recently started watching (and loving) Animal Crossing Island Tours and these Islands are stunning! Honestly people are so talented.

Now, my Island is far from complete. I wanted to share where my at now so that I can share the progress as my island improves. So this is where we are at.

I’d love yo hear ant tips you might have for Forest Cove!

Starting a new Island in Animal Cross: New Horizon

During the first round of lock down in 2020 I got super deep into Animal Crossing and I mean super deep. I had never played any of the previous variations but give me a game on the switch and I will more than give it a go.

However, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and in the end and gave up on making my island a magical place. Not only was I unhappy about the layout of my island, I didn’t know anything about villager hunting and their different personalities. I didn’t love the name either and was just not committed to continuing.

After learning about the new 2021 updates, and the announcement of yet another lock down I was ready to start my island over again and actually make an island that I absolutely love.

Beginning with the name this time round I wanted to go for something a little more tree/wood related because I absolutely love trees! So I decided to name my island ‘Forest Cove’ because forests and mountains are my absolute favourite place. I find them really peaceful and I want to keep the theme of my Island quite nature filled and tranquil.

I also went for a different layout with this new island and so far I am really enjoying it. So far there are a couple of buildings that I want to relocate but I will do that once the option becomes available.

This time around I have more awareness of taking my time to choose villagers. I already have the first 2 villagers that you get when you move onto your Island, and I am working hard to earn Nookmiles to get tickets to travel to mystery Islands to find the villagers I really want to love in.

After much research of Nookipedia I found the villagers I would love to have on my island. All their personalities are Normal (I’m pretty sure), which is one I prefer. I really wanted to avoid jock, cranky and lazy villagers.

Here are the villagers that I plan to hunt for to move to Forest Cove.

I am currently working towards 100 Nook Mile Tickets before streaming the hunt for these villagers!

I am really enjoying getting back into Animal crossing and cannot wait to share an update next month with which villagers I have on my island and any things I’ve learnt along the way!

Weekend Must haves when your Fiancee Loves a Video game

I know this is a little bit of a different post for me, but I am trying to post some different content because why not?

So my fiancee loves a video game. The weekends are prime time for him to play his favourite games, so when he’s doing that here are a few things I do when I need to kill an hour or 7…

Of course my number one is READ. Reading is usually my go too. Its easy, I always have a book I’m reading and it gives me a chance to sit down and get a significant amount read.

I also love to do a face mask. In 2019 I am really trying to focus on making sure my skin is getting everything it needs so I try to do a face mask at least once a week. Some of my favourites are the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask, Indian Healing Clay and the Herbivore Botanicals Pink Clay mask or any of the 100 sheet masks I have.

Join in and play a video game. If my fiancee is playing the Play Station I will grab the Nintendo Switch and keep working my way through Zelda: Breath of the Wild – although this means that I interrupt his game play to help me when I get stuck.

Bake! I love baking on the weekends! I am trying to learn how to make a few staples like bread and stock (have nailed the stock so yay) but I also love baking gluten free and dairy free treats! My absolutely favourite recipes at the moment are these Choc banana muffins and a chocolate peanut butter banana bread.

Puzzle! We are currently working on a Zelda: Breath of the Wild puzzle. This is probably not something I could do for hours and hours but I do like to take a break from reading sometimes and work on it.

I also love to switch off and colour in when George is knee deep in a video game he just can’t get enough. I find it really relaxing and sometimes its just what you need!

The last thing I will do when he’s in a video game sesh, is to work out. Its actually the perfect time to do a work out because I feel like I have the time to finish a work out and then shower. Perfect time to get a sweat on!
