Milk and Honey
Milk and honey is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. About the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity.
The book is divided into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose. Deals with a different pain. Heals a different heartache.milk and honey takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look.
‘Milk and Honey’ By Rupi Kaur is most first experience reading poetry that wasn’t for educational purposes at school. I’m not going to pretend to be someone well versed in poetry and what makes a good poet and compilation of experiences however I will say, I loved it.
The raw and real feeling reading poetry is something very different to what you get reading a fantasy book that transports you to a completely different world. With Rupi’s writing I felt as though I was seeing parts of the world and human nature that I am lucky to not have personally experienced.
Any person can gain something from Rupi Kaur’s words, whether it be understanding, comfort or empathy.
I would recommend this book to any reader. However I would say to be cautious, there is a definite trigger warning.
