This post is going to be a little update. I’ve been a little MIA on here over the last week which was definitely not the plan!
With everything going on we moved to remote learning which has been a big change and has meant that I have been busier than usual completing end of term tasks while still being accessible to the girls for any needed communication as well as some much needed connectedness in this turbulent time.
Along with that my anxiety has been in full force through out. With all the changes and the saturation of information I was definitely struggling over the last few days to get back to my own normal, however having superstar coworkers and a killer husband has definitely helped me this last week.
A final update and the thing that effected me uploading yesterday after work was…. We bought a HOUSE! I know, unbelievable, I am in utter shock and I could not be happier. The house is gorgeous and has some serious charm and I cannot wait to show you guys!
That is pretty much where I’ve been. Some craziness and some exciting news!
A new year means new goals and in 2020 I definitely set myself some goals that I am setting out to achieve. It may only be the first month in but I want to really focus on these goals and working hard at them.
Becoming more actively vegetarian is something that i have found pretty easy to transition into in 2020. I would say already this month I have definitely eaten majority vegetarian and I hope for the number of days to grow next month.
I am 11 books into my 100 book challenge as of writing this, which I feel is a pretty decent start to the year.
Becoming more consistant with my workouts is something that has been relatively easy thus far in 2020 as I was fortunate enough to be on holidays which lent me the time to really commit to doing some form of exercise most day. My goal for February is to focus more on the intesity now.
I am yet to sign up for a fun run, but there is plenty of time!
As someone who loves to read I am also someone who loves to buy books. I had attempted ‘Book Buying Bans’ before however I found that I’d be great for that month and then over send and over buy the following month. This goal is realistic and I have definitely stuck to this more realistic goal in January of purchasing less books than I read in the previous month. In December I read 9 and in January I purchased 8!
My last three goals are kind of combined, and I am excited to say that my husband and I are currently looking at houses to buy which is a super exciting time for us!
Only one more month to work on these goals so I really need to get to it!
Read 45 Books As I’ve already said in my previous month updates I am actually killing this goal. I’ve currently read 90 book! Woo! Way more than I expected.
Drink 2L of water a day I am really trying to get better at this. I was doing really well for like 6 months, then I was awful at it so I am really hoping I can get back to being someone that drinks a lot more water.
Buy Less Books Definitely completely sucked at this one!
Hit my savings goal I did this and now its Christmas soooo…
Build and follow a night routine umm no, just no. This is something I didn’t priorities and I don’t think I will.
The end of another month means another time to reflect on my goals for the year and how I am actually going about achieving them. To be honest some of my goals are always on my mind and I am consciously making an effort towards achieving them, others I genuinely can’t remember until I am doing a goal update like this and think ‘oh yeah’. So its really hit or miss.
September went a little like this:
Read 45 Books I’ve already surpassed this goal for 2019, now I’m just seeing how many book I can read this year so that next year I can set a higher, but still reasonable goal.
Drink 2L of water a day I’m definitely better than I was back in 2018, I always have a drink bottle on me and a gravitate towards sipping water a lot of the time.
Buy less Books still an epic failure! I have probably managed to buy less than 2018 but September was not a good month for this goal. I was a little out of control!
Hit my savings goal I was so so so close to achieving this goal, however we’ve had to pay for a lot of stuff for the wedding – its only 6 weeks away, YIKES – so my savings has definitely taken a hit, but we knew it would.
Build and follow a night routine I’ve gotten a lot better with making sure I take my make up off every night and always putting a moisturiser or serum on, I did want to start reading a little bit more at night, however that one is still a work in progress.
Overall September wasn’t a bad month, my biggest fail is buying so many books!
My goals have really fallen to the wayside these last couple of months, so in August I was really trying to get back into the swing of things. To be completely honestly I definitely wasn’t amazing at working towards an achieving my goals in August, but here is where I’m at.
Read 45 books I am absolutely KILLIN’ this goal! So far in 2019 (I’m writing this in the first few days of September) I’ve read 65 books!
Drink 2L of water a day I really fluctuate with this goal. Some days I am drinking so much water and somedays I’m lucky if I drink a litre, but I am trying to have water any time I feel hungry just incase I’m actually thirsty and don’t need the unnecessary snack (#shredforthewedding)
Buy less books Utter and complete failure. I could not of failed more… (check out my August book haul to so the absolutely disaster that is this goal)
Hit my savings goal I am super close to achieving this goal, hopefully next month I can say I have!
Build and follow a night routine I’ve definitely been better at this. Aside from reading more and less screen time before bed. Honestly its an addiction at this point and I really need to work on it!
I know it’s the start of July, but I’ve only just realised that I didn’t post a goal update for May! Here are my 2019 goals:
Read 45 books I am still ahead on my goal. At the end of May I was about 5 books ahead which means that I am definitely on track for achieving my reading goal for the year
Drink 2L of water a day This is a goal that I feel I need to have a reminder for that makes me drink more water. I definitely am trying to drink more water but I just forget to gravitate towards water when I want something to do or need a drink.
Buy less books This is one that I definitely achieved during May. I only purchased 3 books for the whole month! Hopefully thats one that I can keep up for the rest of the year.
Hit my savings goal I am definitely on the way to this. Have had some set backs and unexpected expenses, but onwards and upwards.
Build and follow a night routine I’m definitely making sure that I am taking care of my skin at night and following a good routine for that, I definitely still want to disconnect from technology a bit more before bed.
Take everything as it comes Weirdly I am getting better at this even with travelling and a wedding coming up
This month has been all over the place, but here is how I’m tracking:
By the end of March my total books read was at 16, which is definitely ahead for this point in the year to reach 45 books! Always a good sign to be tracking well.
I have been yoyoing with this for the whole month. Some days I am great and I drink a ton of water and other days I am completely useless and forget to drink much at all. I have tried to drink water first thing in the morning while I am getting ready for work. This is something I haven’t really done before but I am definitely finding that I feel more awake when I do.
My night routine is pretty good now. I have all my masks and moisturisers and serums and I am pretty good at following it most of the time. I think consistency is where I need to pick up a little.
I’ve definitely been buying less books this month, which does feel good (I know… what?!) let’s see if this can continue.
I think I am finally at a point this year where I can proactively save. So lets see how we go with hitting this goal.
this has been hit and miss again. But overall I feel more relaxed.
So to recap my goals for 2019 are: 1. Read 45 Books 2. Drink 2L of water each day 3. Build and follow a night routine 4. Buy less books 5. Hit my savings goal 6. Take everything as it comes
So far, this is how I am tracking with them.
as of the day I am writing this my current book count sits at
I really don’t like being one book behind schedule, it really stresses me out but I am hoping to catch back up in march.
2. I am still not perfect at this, but I feel like I’ve been doing better then I did in January. I’m back into the swing of work and always have a drink bottle with me at work to make sure I stay hydrated all day.
3. I’ve been really good about washing my face every night and making sure I am moisturising or using a body oil after I shower. I’m still working on kind of ‘slowing down’ before bed. So still a work in progress but definitely doing better than i have done and that’s what matters right?
4. I can’t say I’ve been buying less books, because lets me real, I haven’t. So I’ve decided to put myself on a book buying ban for March and April and potentially May. I’m hoping this will help me to read through the books I have as well as leading into my next goal of…
5. Hitting my savings goal. I am no where near it at the moment, but we are making our last rent payment this month and will be able to save for the next 9-12 months. Hopefully I can get there by December!
6. I think I have definitely been able to attempt to put this into practice over the last month. We are moving sooner than we planned, we’ve booked in the baptism and we are trying to finalise our trip on June. I do still need to work on stress being my initial reaction to things and stating that ‘I’m stressed’ as a response. Working through the things I can control and handing on the things I can’t.
Overall I think its been a pretty good month. I’ve also been working out more and started going back to yoga classes which I really enjoy. I do need to kick the Summer Roll addiction I’ve recently acquired, but come on, who doesn’t love a Summer Roll?
