Fictional Christmas Squad Tag

I saw this tag over on Jenniely blog and I thought it was super festive and fun!

Pretty much you just name a fictional character that is that kind of person. I am going to use only characters that are in books that I’ve read this year.

Lara Jean from the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before triology. She would definitely bake everybody some Christmas Goodness

Alvar Vacker from the Keeper of Lost Cities series is definitely a scrooge

Charli GrantSave the Date – she loves a wedding and I’m willing to bet she’s the one decorating the tree on December first.

Charlie from Heartstopper Volume 2. He seems like a character who would go all out for Christmas.

Magnus Chase from the Gods of Asgard series. I feel like all the Einherjar chilling at Hotel Valhalla playing all the board games in front of a fire.

Bella Swan – Twilight – would definitely be someone to stay in her Pjs all day!

Hagrid! 100% he would do it!

I Tag everyone in this Festive Tag!

Christmas at Hogwarts Read-a-thon Update

Ok, so i know no one is keenly awaiting an update on the Christmas at Hogwarts read-a-thon, but I thought I would post one anyway.

So far I have completed:
* ‘Finish your course work‘ which was a prompt to finish your current read.
* I then decided to ‘Help Hagrid decorate the trees’ which was a book with gold detailing on the cover. Originally I was going to read ‘Shadow and Bone’ By Leigh Bardugo but since it took me longer than I anticipated to finished my current read I chose something a little easier to read and went with ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Crimes of Grindewald’ the Official Screenplay by J.K. Rowling, which I’ve now finished.

*Next was ‘Visit the 3 broomsticks for Mulled Pixie Wine’ which was a prompt to read a book that would take a day to read for this I was originally going to read ’50 ways to Yay’ by Alexi Panos but decided instead to read ‘Explorer: The Mystery Boxes’ By Kazu Kibuishi’which was definitely a good choice as I really enjoyed it.

*The 4 the prompt I chose from the 3 options and chose ‘Attend the Yule Ball’ which was read a book you’ve been preparing yourself for. I intend to stick with ‘Throne of Glass’ By Sarah J. Maas.

*The final reading prompt has 2 options and I am still sticking with ‘Use the invisibility cloak to sneak into the restricted section’ which is to read a banned book. For this one I am sticking with ‘Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone’ By J.K. Rowling.

Thats the update on my first ever reading challenge! Are you participating? How are you going with your reading challenge?

Building My First Bookmas Tree

I know this is a typical bookish blogger/YouTuber thing to do but I really wanted to give it a go.

I’ll be honest, I got right into it, I even asked my fiancé to time lapse it. I genuinely told him it would take me 20 minutes. Cut to not even 5 minutes later and I was done.

Now Its not the most glamorous bookmas tree you’ve ever seen, its actually not even a good bookmas tree. It’s definitely average.  But I am proud of my first attempt anyway and look forward to next year when I will do thing again and hopefully improve!

Its only up from here!

Have you ever made a bookmas tree?

Christmas at Hogwarts Read-a-thon

Very excitingly the Christmas at Hogwarts Read-a-thon is my first ever read-a-thon. I’ve been wanting to do one forever but with work and life in general I haven’t been able to participate in any.

Fantastically this read-a-thon starts on 17th December and ends on the 26th December which means I’M ON HOLIDAYS!
HOORAY!

The read-a-thon goes like this:

Before I jump into the prompts and what books I’m going to choose for each of them thank you to Gee at Book Roast for hosting this Read-a-thon!

All participants start at the top and complete ‘Finish your coursework’. The prompt for this one is to finish your current read… Now I haven’t chosen a book for this one because I don’t know what I’ll be reading on December 17th so this one will depend on where I’m up to in my reading.

Next participants can choose to ‘Help Hagrid Decorate the trees’ which  prompts reader to choose a book with gold details; or readers can ‘have a snowball fight with the Weasley twins’ where readers choose a book they think will be humorous. For this section I am going to choose to ‘help Hagrid Decorate the Trees’ and the book I’ll be reading is ‘Shadow and Bone’ by Leigh Bardugo

Participants meet up  again when they ‘visit the Three Broomsticks for mulled pixie wine’ where readers will choose a read that will take a day/ an evening to read. For this one I am going to choose ‘50 Ways to Yay’ by Alexi panos

Now we get to the point where readers can divert into completely different areas! There are three options for this part of the read-a-thon. First you can choose to ‘exchange presents at your house common roomwhere readers choose a book that features or is about friendship. The second option here is to ‘sneak into the kitchen to gift Dobby odd socks’ where readers choose a book with an Item of clothing on the cover. The final option in this Trio is ‘attend the Yule Ball’ where readers choose a book you’ve been preparing yourself for. For this section I am going to choose ‘attend the Yule Ball’ and I am going to read ‘Throne of Glass’ By Sarah J. Mass

From here readers only have two options either they can ‘use invisibility cloak to sneak into the restricted section‘ where readers choose a banned book; Or I can ‘bring a festive treat to Hedwig in the Owlery’ where we choose a book with an animal on the cover/ in the title/ in the series name. For this one I am going to choose to ‘Sneak into the Restricted Section’  and read the book ‘Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone’ By J.K. Rowling

Finally we have made it to ‘attend the Christmas feast’ for this one our prompt is to watch a Harry Potter movie, which is optional BUT I will definitely be watching one and if its up to my fiancee it will be ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ Part 1 and 2.

The other options that I won’t be doing but may be helpful to know about are ‘fly around the snowy Hogwarts grounds‘ where readers choose a book with a building on the cover; Or ‘put on your knitted sweater from Mollywhere readers choose a book with present parents of a focus on family

Are you going to be participating in the read-a-thon? let me know what prompts you choose!
