The products i swear by! I’ve been slowly trying different products over the years and i know that my skin might change and that some point in the future (maybe sooner than i think ouch) i will need to look into anti-aging products. For now these are the ones that work for me.
I have found that each one of these products works well for my skin type and my hair.
I have been wanting to try a Ouai product for quite some time but was using up old products first, trying to lessen my inner consumer. Finally i got my hands on their hair oil and i LOVE it. I use it after styling my hair. I’ve found that its been really great at helping the frizz at the end of my hair.
Before I put any heat on my hair I’ve been using Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Invisible oil heat and UV protection Primer. It never fails to make my hair feel soft and protected, i can also see results when it comes to protecting my hair from the heat and prevent damage.
The Avene Thermal Spring Water works great for my skin as a ‘toner’ its light and it leave my skin feeling fresh and clean. I would Highly recommend.
I started with one but moved to two different eye creams. I’ve found that each works to keep my under eye areas hydrated and fresh. The Kielh’s Creamy Eye Treatment with avocado is a perfect hydrating eye cream for night time. I usually put it on right before bed after I’ve cleaned my face. I also love the Origins GinZing eye treatment. It’s a great morning eye cream to wake up my face before putting make up on. Its great because its refreshing but it’s also a light salmon colour, which is great for brightening your under eye before applying concealer.
My last and most recent love has been the Clinique take the day offmake up removing balm. It is AMAZING. I was previously using a variety of micellar waters however i found that i needed to rub quiet a lot around my eye area which i hate doing. the Take the Day off balm is perfect, I don’t need to rub my eye areas much as i previously was, its also really hydrating and I’ve noticed my skin has felt fresher and cleaner. Fantastic Product.
I am always on the hunt for new products to try, to try and find the perfect combination for my skin. If you have any recommendations I’m always keen to listen.
To anyone out there in the interwebs that reads anything i post… at all, First off, THANK YOU so much from the bottom of my heart. I really appreciate you taking the time to show any interest in my life. Secondly, I am so sorry for my lack of posts. It has been such a hectic couple of months.
Interestingly enough i also feel somewhat exacerbated when blogger and vloggers say that when i am devoted to viewing and reading everything they post. Now i feel for them instead!
the long and the short of the lack of posts is that mainly I MOVED! I had been living at home up until about a month ago when i finally decided to adult the house down and move out into an apartment. So thats made things crazy busy and a huge adjustment. There will be a photo montage/a video post (I’m undecided) relating to decorating and the lay out of my new place soon.
I have also finally adjusted to working full time in an adults world! win! it got really busy for a while with a bunch of work required outside of my designated hours, but luckily it didn’t feel too much like work.
Unfortunately it did take away a little from the store. We were still able to ship out orders, however new designs and updates as well as these posts kind of got put on the back burner. But i appreciate anyone whose still around!
We are back on track now!
I am planning a few posts for the future, with an exciting adventure coming up in June! which will make many a post in its self.
If you take the time to read this, let me know, I’d love to hear your feedback!
Along with a new job comes a new wardrobe, well at least in my case it did. I went from jeans and kicks to boots and a Tokito dress on a daily basis. Really the only positive is that I got to buy things but for once I actually needed them.
I started with the basics of course and tried to find a range of different dresses that were an appropriate length for work but that didn’t make me look like a potato. Difficult feat considering that me and dresses don’t really mix!
I’m proud of myself for giving it a solid go and coming out with some dresses that don’t . make me feel like a complete loser.
My main find spots were: Zara; Tokito and Portmans.
Over a period of a couple of months i managed to find a few different options. I still haven’t worn all of them to be honestly but the few that i love I wear religiously!
This weeks post is taking on some more of the January vibes (lets just ignore the fact that is practically February) I thought I would post again about some of the goals I have made for myself this year and explain how I intend to reach those goals.
Of course my goals are around saving money (No spend 2017 – last weeks post) and around organisation as well as my health and fitness both physical and mental. For the first time in… ever really, i am looking at these perpetual “goals” from a different point of view. I am finally seeing them as an ongoing process instead of an end result i am desperate to reach to be ‘happy’
This year a shift has really happened for me. I’m attributing this to getting my first ‘legit’ job (by legit I mean a 9-5 full time job) as well as an excellent psychologist and a whole heap of self help books (audible is so handy for this). All this is allowing 2017 to really be a clean slate for me. A fresh start.
Ok, so the goals:
* Eat a healthier more balanced diet * Work out… at all * Get your shit together!
Thats pretty much it.
I plan on working on all these things in conjunction with working (fingers crossed) full time. Heres the plan.
Firstly I stopped restricting myself to ‘never eating this or that’ to allowing myself these things on the weekend. My vice is mostly a nice medley of chocolate and popcorn while I curl up with my boyfriend at night to watch a movie. I have followed this ‘limit’ with an “explanation to myself” being that i need to eat well to maintain energy throughout the day and to avoid getting sick which will prevent my from working. Pretty much eating well is going to help me progress in my career (finally)
Second I gathered as many people as i can (ok so like 2) to work out with me. By this I mostly mean I’ve asked my boyfriend to workout with me so I don’t irrationally (don’t worry I know) freak out about sharks behind me in the swimming pool. I have also decided to give up on the running – my body just is not meant to run-and go back to a sport that my body is accustomed to and that takes the weight of my joints (which kinda struggle) and hit the swimming pool instead. Along with this I am also working on my posture, completing a yoga flow that is aimed at assisting with posture as many days a week as I can. With all this I am also giving myself a chance to rest. At least one day on the weekends and one during the week (mostly dependant on work).
Third I am taking a different approach when it comes to planning. Last year I tried planning using sticker kits and an Erin Condren planner. As gorgeous as the spreads turned out, the method just wasn’t for me. I wasn’t able to commit time to using a kit and filling it all out and when all you do is work and watch Netflix your spreads turn out kind of boring.
Alternatively for 2017 I have decided to combine 2 methods to keep my shit together. First I have the traditional diary with a week per 2 page spread. For this i have chosen the Lorna Jane planner. Its adorable and has plenty of space to write along with some inspirational quotes (which never hurt.) Secondly i am adopting a bullet journal style note book. This includes different pages that keep different lists that i want to track or may need throughout the year.
Currently I am tracking:
Goals for 2017
Items I may want to purchase (kind of contradicts no spend but good for if mum asks what i want for my birthday)
Extra work days i need to attend
Recipes i want to try
Daily gratitude Log
A list of items its ok to replace during no spend
a list of things i need to buy for moving out (towels and the like)
blog posts and decal ideas
order tracker for the Harper Grae store
Harper Grae blog post tracker
… and many, many more to come.
This style of planning helps me to organise my thoughts into the right places so they don’t all end up muddled on one page. That in turn helps keep my mind a little less cluttered and able to focus on what i need to get done each moment of each day.
With all the work I am putting into 2017 I am going to try and keep a positive mindset towards myself and what I achieve. The goal of these changes and working hard on improving myself is ultimately one thing…
All these small actions are going to help me to become the most productive and positive version of myself that I can.
Fingers crossed it works!
Good luck to anyone working on their goals and any other form of self improvement and self positivity.
Like nearly everyone else on the planet I take the new year as an opportunity to start fresh and create goals to get the results I struggled (Gave up on) to find in 2016. “New year, new me” I made the usual ‘Work out more’ and ‘eat healthy’ resolutions as most people do and I do intend to give it a good hard go in terms of achieving those goals. A fews days after New Years I was mindlessly scrolling through the internet as one does, when an article caught my eye. It was titled ‘Financial Journalist no Spend Year helped save money’. Being the horrendous saver and epic consumerist that I am, I can use as much help as i can get this area; So I clicked.
The point of the article was that Michelle McGragh took the anti-consumer movement of ‘Spend Nothing Day’ and applied it to an entire year! She set herself rules which allowed her to pay for a mortgage, bills, charity donations, basic toiletries, a strict food budget and a bicycle for transport. In turn she ended up saving $27,000!
The article was genuinely inspiring.
So I decided to partake in a similar no spend year with a few different rules to accomodate what I may need throughout the year.
My No Spend Year Rules:
Pay for all my bills (including rent, utilities, phone etc.)
Pay for Food – Groceries with a limit on any extra spending
Pay for Petrol and Transport (Train for work)
Only replace completely used make up
Those are my basic rules. I plan to have the printed in multiple locations around my house and in my Diary and bag to help remind myself.
Disclaimer: These are loose rules, I am currently planning to move out this year which does require a peak in spending as you know, furniture and life. I have also incorporated make up as I am starting a new job and want to actually look like a human being.
The basis for me with this project is NO LUXURY SPENDING. The point being to become more responsible with my money and learn to respect it and use it wisely.
My goal from this is to save as much money as possible. If i reach my goal FANTASTIC! If i get close i will be just as pleased.
2017 for me is a year of change, challenge and progression. One baby step at a time!
