Marjorie Glatt feels like a ghost. A practical thirteen year old in charge of the family laundry business, her daily routine features unforgiving customers, unbearable P.E. classes, and the fastidious Mr. Saubertuck who is committed to destroying everything she’s worked for.

Wendell is a ghost. A boy who lost his life much too young, his daily routine features ineffective death therapy, a sheet-dependent identity, and a dangerous need to seek purpose in the forbidden human world.

When their worlds collide, Marjorie is confronted by unexplainable disasters as Wendell transforms Glatt’s Laundry into his midnight playground, appearing as a mere sheet during the day. While Wendell attempts to create a new afterlife for himself, he unknowingly sabotages the life that Marjorie is struggling to maintain.

‘Sheets’ was picked up as part of the N.E.W.T.S readathon for the prompt ‘a standalone’ which is was set to achieve an Exceeds Expectations in Arithmancy.

In a quick summery of the book, Sheets follows a ghost and a girl and what happens when the two worlds cross paths.

I really enjoyed the art style in this graphic novel. I felt as though it really added to the wholesome vibe of the read. The muted colours and the cuteness of the characters really complemented each other.

It was interesting to see the different worlds we begin in our world following Marjorie as she works at her parents dry cleaning store which is struggling after the death of her mother and her fathers inability to function fully while coping with his own grief.

I really just wanted to hug Marjorie. She has really been through a lot and has so much on her shoulders. Wendell is our adorable ghost character in this story and man oh man he’s a cute ghost! Their friendship is so cute and so perfect.

As a graphic novel this was a super quick read. I really enjoyed the cute fluffyness of the story and was just so happy the whole time I was reading.
